Grass Fed

Our friends were given half a cow, or something like that.  They say they don't eat much beef (they are not vegetarian .  But we said we would gladly come help them enjoy their steaks.  Once they mentioned we would be playing Dominion with them we were sold.  Beef and board games!  Happy Friday!

Sticks

Sticks have become a new passion for Edmund.  This is not surprising given his gender and age (not sure if age really matters, i.e. Joanthan loves sticks too).  Now, we need to have a stick more than we need to have a dog or bear.

Big Dog

Edmund is usually good about going to bed at our Bible Study leaders' house.  Tonight he was not as sleepy as usual.

He was quite fascinated by their big dog, Dixie.  She kept kissing him, maybe to help him sleep.  Or maybe because his dinner made him smell good.  Or maybe because babies carry all kinds of scents around since they have been all kinds of places and whatever they found there when into their mouths?  Who can say?

Where's Edmund??

There he is!!
(New evening pastime: get into jammies, get into closet, see how long the parents will wait until you come out.  Lots of fun.  We highly recommend this game.)

Walker

Edmund walked a quarter of a mile today. He was very sad to get back into the stroller. But it took us about the time to go the quarter that it does for me to push him round the mile. At some point, I just wanted to get back to the house.

Stuck

Our Silly Old Bear discovered that you can actually fit between the mattress and the headboard of the Parents' bed if you are very skinny.  He was pleased to get down but wanted to be pulled up right away.  After we got him unstuck he tried to squirm right back in the hole.  Some people need to repeat an experiment just to make sure it was a bad idea the first time.

Grampy

After a long drive we finally made it to the Great-Grandparents' house.  We were all so glad to get out of the car.  Edmund and Grampy played Helicopters.  We are looking forward to a great visit with them.

Concert

Edmund has started to pick out individual notes on the piano, not just slam a hand down all over an octave.  We are hoping for a real concert soon.

Tea

Miss Anna came to tea with her mother.  We four had a great time.  Edmund spent quite a bit of that time explaining about the ceiling fan and light combo to Miss Anna.  He is so glad that she is such a good listener.

Cleaners

I really hope that having a rider does not void the warranty on the vacuum.

Psalm 30

A Psalm of David. A song at the dedication of the temple.

30 I will extol you, O Lord, for you have drawn me up
and have not let my foes rejoice over me.
Lord my God, I cried to you for help,
and you have healed me.
Lord, you have brought up my soul from Sheol;
you restored me to life from among those who go down to the pit.
Sing praises to the Lord, O you his saints,
and give thanks to his holy name.
For his anger is but for a moment,
and his favor is for a lifetime.
Weeping may tarry for the night,
but joy comes with the morning.
As for me, I said in my prosperity,
“I shall never be moved.”
By your favor, O Lord,
you made my mountain stand strong;
you hid your face;
I was dismayed.
To you, O Lord, I cry,
and to the Lord I plead for mercy:
“What profit is there in my death,
if I go down to the pit?
Will the dust praise you?
Will it tell of your faithfulness?
10 Hear, O Lord, and be merciful to me!
Lord, be my helper!”
11 You have turned for me my mourning into dancing;
you have loosed my sackcloth
and clothed me with gladness,
12 that my glory may sing your praise and not be silent.
Lord my God, I will give thanks to you forever!

Rocket Ship Jammies

What better way to blast off to dreamland than in Rocket Ship Jammies?  We can't think of one.  Maybe that is because some of us don't get as much uninterrupted sleep as we used to once upon a time.

Hippos

Jonathan demonstrates my Ancient Greek vocabulary word with help from his trusty doulos.

Baseboard Heater

Our new place to stand, and stay warm in winter.

Outside

Edmund has taken quite a fancy to our backyard.  He enjoys his swing, but he also likes the door to Jonathan's workshop, the patio table, and the dirt, sticks, and leaves that can be found in proliferation outside.  I think this is the start of  a long and happy friendship.

The end of a long, happy day, surrounded by friends, what more could a boy want!

Polls

Why can't voting be done in July when it is nice and warm out?  Why do we stand around in the dark, freezing our noses off, just to pick leaders?  We voted.  Now, where is some hot coffee.

Hug

Today we learned that our dear Auntie Bonnie has moved to Heaven to live with Jesus.  We are sad for ourselves but happy for her.  We are praying for her family and friends whose hearts are heavy.  I have been so glad that Edmund was very snuggly today.  It helps to have someone to hug you on days like today.

Fall Festival Ride

We think Miss Louise's tractor rides are simply marvelous.

Fall Festival

Our church has an annual Fall Festival with food, games, hay rides, a moon bounce, a bonfire, and most importantly, a huge box full of dry corn.  Edmund, and the others his age, really enjoyed the corn box.  They buried each other in the corn, they poured corn into each other's clothing, they dropped it out of the box by the handfuls.  Mittens just get in the way.  As our senior pastor predicted, the moms were getting corn out of the strangest places!
