Wishing you all the best of Christmas cheer!!!

Chronicle of Cocktails: B-52 - Drink of the Year

The B-52: the first layered drink I have tried to concoct (a Tequila Sunrise is only partially layered).
Pouring over a spoon so as to create the layers, equal measures of (in this order), Kahlua, Cask & Cream (although many like the stronger bite of Baileys), and Grand Marnier.

Jamestown
We decided to take a trip to Jamestown during 2007, so that we could celebrate the quatracentennial.

We had a nice drive down in the morning and picnicked our lunch on the grounds. While we were eating near the walk with the state flags, Jonathan noted: "Either Wyoming changed their state animal to roadkill or that flag is upside down."

Being patriotic, even if it is not our state, we told the lady at the information desk about the mistake and she said she would let the right people know. When we left several hours later Wyoming was still in distress. Makes you feel kinda jaded about being patriotic...
We explored the enclosure and maybe I have been to one-too-many historic sites, or maybe I don't really care much about such recent history, but I was a bit disappointed at the presentation. We decided it would be more fun to heckle privately about the exhibits.

Here I am looking out from the pulpit... please no one give me a lecture about female priests...

Here is Jonathan, giving the correct pronunciation for the nautical terms we "learned" from the presenter on "ships." Anyone who does not know how to say "forecastle" correctly should not be allowed to present on ships.
We did end up getting a 1607-2007 shot glass, so I think the trip was worth it. I may wait to go back until the next centennial.

Hero
Where have all the good men gone
And where are all the gods?
Where’s the street-wise Hercules
To fight the rising odds?
Isn’t there a white knight upon a fiery steed?
Late at night I toss and I turn and I dream of what I need
And where are all the gods?
Where’s the street-wise Hercules
To fight the rising odds?
Isn’t there a white knight upon a fiery steed?
Late at night I toss and I turn and I dream of what I need
Chorus:
I need a hero
I'm holding out for at hero 'till the end of the night
He's gotta be strong
And he's gotta be fast
And he's gotta be fresh from the fight
I need a hero
I’m holding out for a hero 'till the morning light
He’s gotta be sure
And it’s gotta be soon
And he’s gotta be larger than life
Larger than life
Somewhere after midnight
In my wildest fantasy
Somewhere just beyond my reach
There’s someone reaching back for me
Racing on the thunder and rising with the heat
It’s gonna take a superman to sweep me off my feet
Chorus
I need a hero
I'm holding out for at hero 'till the the end of the night
Up where the mountains meet the heavens above
Out where the lightning splits the sea
I could swear there is someone somewhere
Watching me
Through the wind and the chill and the rain
And the storm and the flood
I can feel his approach
Like a fire in my blood
Chorus
I need a hero
I'm holding out for at hero 'till the end of the night
He's gotta be strong
And he's gotta be fast
And he's gotta be fresh from the fight
I need a hero
I’m holding out for a hero 'till the morning light
