To be a Virginian either by Birth, Marriage, Adoption, or even on one's Mother's side, is an Introduction to any State in the Union, a Passport to any Foreign Country, and a Benediction from Above. ~Anonymous

Westminster
Nothing like the Confession for evening reading. It is never too early to start caticizing your covenant children!

North of the Border Again
The Black Dragon has finally come home from teaching "down there". We are so glad she is in the area again. We hope very much to persuade her to come back to VA. You can see out first attempt in the picture above.

Edmund's Baptism
Today Edmund Sebastian was baptized as a covenant child in our family.
Rev. Dave performed the service and did a great job. You can't tell from the picture, but the font is on top of a conga drum. Inventive!
The youth group kids were taking bets on whether he would fumble during play.
He successfully completed the pass and scored.
Edmund has been blessed with some amazing godparents!
Here is his little suit from Grandpap K and Papa & Grandma W. So handsome!

First Bath
Today we gave Edmund his first bath. Many thanks to Paul for letting us borrow the bath chair, it definitely helped. Who knew bathing was such slippery work.
Try a thumb when getting getting eaten by a shark, it takes the edge off.
Lotion is not fun. The bath was not so bad, but the lotion at the end triggered a display of lung capacity and vasodilation.
Many thanks to Auntie Karen for all the fun bath equipment. The sharks made it all better in the end.

Auntie Karen
Speaking of Boston, let me tell you about the John Hancock building. Did you know that the Old John Hancock building is topped by a light beacon that flashes the weather report in code? Here is the mnemonic to descifer the code:
Steady blue, clear view.
Flashing blue, clouds due.
Steady red, rain ahead.
Flashing red, snow instead.
When the Red Sox are playing at home, flashing red also means the game has been called off due to the impending downpour. The beacon flashes red and blue when the Sox win the World Series. Wicked nifty!!
Happy Fourth of July
Happy Independence Day from the three of us to you! Maybe next year the fireworks will do something for Edmund. This year he slept through all of them.
Balls Bluff National Cemetery and Park
This Fourth we took Edmund for a walk around the local battlefield and cemetery. Being a good father Jonathan introduced Edmund to the artillery as soon as possible.
Balls Bluff has a nice set of walking trails, and some of them overlook (read blocked by verdure) the might (read muddy) Potomac. The regional park authority is restoring the battlefield, adding historical markers, and doing a great job keeping the trails clear (we only had to climb around one downed tree).
I objected to Edmund actually be loaded into the cannon. I know, I am a boring mother.
