Spagetti Monster

But not flying...

Stuff of the Month! - April

Book: The Lizard King by Bryan Christy.  Interesting look at the world of reptile smuggling, every bit as lucrative as cocaine, except you are up against U.S. Fish & Wildlife instead of the D.E.A., and your competitors as more likely to say, "Dude, awesome snake!" than hang your corpse from a bridge.

Movie (home viewing): The Muppets (2011).  Some good moments and many of the jokes were quite funny the first time they were told.  But unlike the traditional Muppet use of a running gag which evolves and so stays fresh, this film used a number of the same humorous devices in exactly the same way multiple times, apparently under the misapprehension that if it was funny once it must still be a winner.

Music: Rumours by Fleetwood Mac.  I am sure many will accuse me of heresy for this, but I found the album listenable, but more as background while driving, and not so much interesting of its own right.

Household project: Installing a bike seat for the little guy.  Now we can ride together, and the weather couldn't be nicer.  (I am pretty sure this was the end of April.  It may have been early May.)

Low point: The Omen Machine by Terry Goodkind.  Hey, I thought to myself, Goodkind is branching out and telling a story about magic set in our world now that he promised that he was done with the beautifully written and enjoyable, but increasingly improbable, series about Richard Rahl.  Wrong.  He ties our world into Rahl's.  Oh, well.  To be honest, I don't remember a lot beyond my anger about this now being the 12th book in his series (counting Debt of Bones as a novella and not part of the sequence) AND being really strange to try to make his universe work with ours, so it may have been a good book.

Remote Control

I am pretty sure that Edmund is the remote while Jonathan and I are the device.

Having guests is fun!

This weekend we have some very dear friends with us.  We are enjoying our time with them, and they seem to be enjoying our Small Man very much!

Swing

Our neighbors were cleaning out their baby stuff since their kids have out grown it.  We are now the proud and happy owners of a swing.  There were a few other items that came our way, but we are going to surprise Edmund with them later.  He loved the swing and giggled the entire time he was in it.

Hippocycle

After enjoying the twins' bike earlier in the day Edmund had to come home and try his own wheels.

Very Hip!!!

Helping Move

Today we helped some friends move into their new, amazing home.  The twins were off with their grandmother, so Edmund got free run of their toys.

But the best things about moving is all the empty boxes.  You never know if it is a space ship, a stagecoach, or a fort.  Just call him Calvin!

Hospital Visitor

Tonight we went to visit our friend Eli in the peds ward.  He had a lung collapse and now has a tube to help him heal.  We did not take his picture, but his mother had fun Edmund.  We took cookies and he said the drugs made them taste crummy.  After some milk and a few more cookies either he was not noticing or they were tasting better.  When we first arrived his drugs were still powerful.  When we left he was cracking quite good jokes.  In the first shot Edmund is listening while Eli talk, and in the second he is enjoying Mrs. R's sense of humor.  We promised Eli we would not take his picture in his very snappy hospital gown.

Easter Bunny

This is the Easter Bunny that my parents sent to Edmund.  He got a big kick out of the bunny.  We enjoyed playing with him.  He also wanted the bag of M&M's to himself.  I think he liked the sound they made all together.

Peep

This is the Easter Basket that we made up for Edmund. Jonathan thought he needed one Peep.  I was just going to give him the big bunny, but you can see one Peep was added.  The peanut butter eggs were for the parents.
At first Edmund just wanted to hold the Peep.  It was funny since new things usually go straight to the mouth.
After a bit he got the idea, but could not tear the Peep with his teeth.
Jonathan helped him get it started.
Other than chewing for a long time, which did keep him busy, I think he liked it.
