Christmas Tin

We have a set of Christmas tins that only come out after Thanksgiving.  Sometimes they have snacks in them and sometimes they become part of the furniture.  This tin caught my attention and I  rolled it around the kitchen and then when it ran into the fridge decided to sit on it.  It turns out that when you sit on the tin after rolling it around it seems to keep rolling.  Anyway, my mother set it upright, which is bad for rolling, but seems to be better for sitting.  I can always knock it over again if I need to transport it to other parts of the house.

Full Mouth

They let me eat all kinds of yummy cookies when we have guests.  My mother says that I should not expect the ratio of cookies to days in the month to continue from December to January.  So, I will have to enjoy all I can now to make up for the rest of the year.

Lantern

We have a new addition to the hallway, two actually.  There is the board in the background with the botanical drawings, and then the green lantern.  One has to get a boost (from Dad) to be able to reach either.  Why are all the decorations a yard or more up in this house?

Setting up Cars

Many thanks to the B- boys and their parents for the neat car tracks.  Edmund has been enjoying them over and over!  This will definitely be fun for a long time to come.

Miss Emily

Edmund is so glad when Miss Emily comes back from wherever it is that she goes for months at a time.  Something called college.  Anyway, he thinks she really ought not stay away from him so long.  He enjoyed watching the year end slide show with her at church today.  We are so glad she is back!

Pop Rocks

Uncle David & Kirsten came tonight and brought fun candy to share.

Did you know that Pop Rocks fizzle in your mouth? They are so much fun.

The Five Hour Version

Edmund is very happy to give consequence to young ladies who are slighted by other men.  And he enjoys their smiles!

Lily says, "Cheese!"  She is a very good little hostess.  It is always fun to get out and share/steal other people's toys.

But, My Dear, Edmund is not sure if he really wants to give a ball.  He would much rather keep the ball for himself.  He is not into sharing the ladies or the balls.

Cresh

Edmund and Corbin had fun playing with the Little People Nativity set at Playgroup today.  Hudson is in the background raiding the shelves.  The boys also enjoyed using the drill to screw in all the bolts you see on the white board.  Such fun things to do on a Wednesday.

Playing with Rory

While Mother and Father escaped to a little Christmas shindig Edmund went to Rory's house for playtime.

We were told that there was almost plug sharing but Miss Katy, Rory's mother, put a stop to that.  Parents can be so funny about sharing.  They want you to share toys and books and animals, but not plugs and cups and food.  We wish they could get things sorted out a little better.

Little Chorister

Let all mortal flesh keep silence,
And with fear and trembling stand;
Ponder nothing earthly minded,
For with blessing in His hand,
Christ our God to earth descendeth
Our full homage to demand.

King of kings, yet born of Mary,
As of old on earth He stood,
Lord of lords, in human vesture,
In the body and the blood;
He will give to all the faithful
His own self for heavenly food.

Rank on rank the host of heaven
Spreads its vanguard on the way,
As the Light of light descendeth
From the realms of endless day,
That the powers of hell may vanish
As the darkness clears away.

At His feet the six winged seraph,
Cherubim with sleepless eye,
Veil their faces to the presence,
As with ceaseless voice they cry:
Alleluia, Alleluia
Alleluia, Lord Most High!

Leg, Up and Over

Of all the interesting ways this man has found to sleep, I think this is the one that makes me most uncomfortable.

Width

Why sleep down the bed when you can sleep across it? You might not wake up with rail marks on your head.  What fun would life be then?

Blue

It is a very blue sort of night.  We are tired and ready for bed.  Anyone want to snuggle?

Grass Fed

Our friends were given half a cow, or something like that.  They say they don't eat much beef (they are not vegetarian .  But we said we would gladly come help them enjoy their steaks.  Once they mentioned we would be playing Dominion with them we were sold.  Beef and board games!  Happy Friday!

Sticks

Sticks have become a new passion for Edmund.  This is not surprising given his gender and age (not sure if age really matters, i.e. Joanthan loves sticks too).  Now, we need to have a stick more than we need to have a dog or bear.

Big Dog

Edmund is usually good about going to bed at our Bible Study leaders' house.  Tonight he was not as sleepy as usual.

He was quite fascinated by their big dog, Dixie.  She kept kissing him, maybe to help him sleep.  Or maybe because his dinner made him smell good.  Or maybe because babies carry all kinds of scents around since they have been all kinds of places and whatever they found there when into their mouths?  Who can say?

Where's Edmund??

There he is!!
(New evening pastime: get into jammies, get into closet, see how long the parents will wait until you come out.  Lots of fun.  We highly recommend this game.)

Walker

Edmund walked a quarter of a mile today. He was very sad to get back into the stroller. But it took us about the time to go the quarter that it does for me to push him round the mile. At some point, I just wanted to get back to the house.

Stuck

Our Silly Old Bear discovered that you can actually fit between the mattress and the headboard of the Parents' bed if you are very skinny.  He was pleased to get down but wanted to be pulled up right away.  After we got him unstuck he tried to squirm right back in the hole.  Some people need to repeat an experiment just to make sure it was a bad idea the first time.

Grampy

After a long drive we finally made it to the Great-Grandparents' house.  We were all so glad to get out of the car.  Edmund and Grampy played Helicopters.  We are looking forward to a great visit with them.

Concert

Edmund has started to pick out individual notes on the piano, not just slam a hand down all over an octave.  We are hoping for a real concert soon.

Tea

Miss Anna came to tea with her mother.  We four had a great time.  Edmund spent quite a bit of that time explaining about the ceiling fan and light combo to Miss Anna.  He is so glad that she is such a good listener.

Cleaners

I really hope that having a rider does not void the warranty on the vacuum.

Psalm 30

A Psalm of David. A song at the dedication of the temple.

30 I will extol you, O Lord, for you have drawn me up
and have not let my foes rejoice over me.
Lord my God, I cried to you for help,
and you have healed me.
Lord, you have brought up my soul from Sheol;
you restored me to life from among those who go down to the pit.
Sing praises to the Lord, O you his saints,
and give thanks to his holy name.
For his anger is but for a moment,
and his favor is for a lifetime.
Weeping may tarry for the night,
but joy comes with the morning.
As for me, I said in my prosperity,
“I shall never be moved.”
By your favor, O Lord,
you made my mountain stand strong;
you hid your face;
I was dismayed.
To you, O Lord, I cry,
and to the Lord I plead for mercy:
“What profit is there in my death,
if I go down to the pit?
Will the dust praise you?
Will it tell of your faithfulness?
10 Hear, O Lord, and be merciful to me!
Lord, be my helper!”
11 You have turned for me my mourning into dancing;
you have loosed my sackcloth
and clothed me with gladness,
12 that my glory may sing your praise and not be silent.
Lord my God, I will give thanks to you forever!

Rocket Ship Jammies

What better way to blast off to dreamland than in Rocket Ship Jammies?  We can't think of one.  Maybe that is because some of us don't get as much uninterrupted sleep as we used to once upon a time.

Hippos

Jonathan demonstrates my Ancient Greek vocabulary word with help from his trusty doulos.

Baseboard Heater

Our new place to stand, and stay warm in winter.

Outside

Edmund has taken quite a fancy to our backyard.  He enjoys his swing, but he also likes the door to Jonathan's workshop, the patio table, and the dirt, sticks, and leaves that can be found in proliferation outside.  I think this is the start of  a long and happy friendship.

The end of a long, happy day, surrounded by friends, what more could a boy want!

Polls

Why can't voting be done in July when it is nice and warm out?  Why do we stand around in the dark, freezing our noses off, just to pick leaders?  We voted.  Now, where is some hot coffee.

Hug

Today we learned that our dear Auntie Bonnie has moved to Heaven to live with Jesus.  We are sad for ourselves but happy for her.  We are praying for her family and friends whose hearts are heavy.  I have been so glad that Edmund was very snuggly today.  It helps to have someone to hug you on days like today.

Fall Festival Ride

We think Miss Louise's tractor rides are simply marvelous.
